Dr Gamze Abramov

CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST | SYDNEY CBD

I’m Dr Gamze Abramov, a Clinical Psychologist with over 10 years experience in mental health therapy. I founded Love Work Play Psychology to provide treatment to adults at my Sydney CBD practice or via online telehealth for clients across Australia and internationally.

As a Clinical Psychologist, I have extensive training across a range of clinical disorders and mental health presentations. I especially enjoy working with clients who experience social anxiety or debilitating shyness, relationship anxiety, relationship OCD, interpersonal difficulties, poor self-esteem & self-worth, excessive shame, and difficulty with setting boundaries and asserting needs.

I’m in the business of behavioural change
& pattern disruption

Created by potrace 1.16, written by Peter Selinger 2001-2019

Behavioural Focus

I use behavioural change to disrupt patterns of thinking, feeling, and being in the world that are no longer serving you. These behaviours are often coping strategies developed earlier in life that have become habitual, reflexive, or outside your conscious awareness. In my experience, focusing on what you do is the fastest way to change how you think, feel, and move through the world.

Detailed Analysis

If you work with me, you’ll quickly learn that I’m obsessed with hearing about the granular details of your experiences. I’ll ask you for recent examples of when you ‘felt that way’ and break those situations down into their beats. Together we will identify what you felt, thought, and did, why this may have happened, what factors maintain or reinforce this pattern, and what you can do to disrupt it.

Pattern Disruption

The do is almost always changing a behaviour and my job is to bring you on board, help you recognise and understand your patterns, identify what needs to be changed, dismantle barriers to change, equip you with what you need to make those changes, be your personal accountability partner and cheer squad, problem fixer, and be there afterwards to debrief, workshop, and work out next steps.

What is therapy?

Therapy is where you get to say the hard things out loud, without judgement, without having to protect anyone else, and without holding back. It’s a space to sort through your messy thoughts, name and challenge the assumptions and beliefs that keep you stuck, feel what you’ve been avoiding, and recognise the behavioural patterns that keep the cycle going. And once there’s clarity, we start the real work: experimenting with doing things differently, on purpose. Because insight matters, but change takes action.

Do I need therapy?

Maybe. If you’ve been trying to figure things out on your own and still feel stuck, exhausted, or like you’re running in circles, you’re not weak, you’re human. Therapy isn’t just for crises or diagnoses. It’s for people who are ready to look honestly at how they’re feeling, what they’re doing, and what it’s costing them. It’s a place to pause, take stock, and decide what comes next, with someone who can help you untangle the mess and make a plan you can actually follow through on. If a part of you suspects something needs to change, therapy can be the place to start figuring out what, why, and how.
